Off The Record was formed in 1988 by bandleader David Smith, out of a desire to create the perfect commercial package. Since inception, two things in particular have endured and contributed to the bands success and longevity - the stability of David’s continued presence and the professionalism of its members. They love what they do and it shows. Their care, attention and dedication to all aspects of any event they perform at sets them apart.

The three members are seasoned professionals each in their own right, and have pursued individual projects on the club and corporate scene for many years, before finally merging their talents to create the perfect entertainment package.

With a keen understanding of the demands of a mixed audience, Off The Record are adept at delighting and entertaining any crowd. The band are particularly sensitive to the pressures and priorities of event management. The stage show is a complete and attractive blend of popular music, dancing and audience participation, which can be modified to suit the occasion.

This wealth of experience has ensured that the band has been in continuous demand on the pub, club, corporate and wedding circuit where the requirements of the client remain paramount.

The band usually plays for approximately two and a half hours with a short break in the middle allowing for the cutting of cakes, announcements or whatever the occasion calls for. Background music is also provided during the break if required. With DJ experience, Dave and fellow band member Tina can provide any disco entertainment required after the band has completed their set. This gives a smooth transition without disruption to the atmosphere, ensuring that the audience is continually entertained.

Every event and function is unique and requires individual attention so close liaison prior to the event is vital in order to deliver the perfect tailor made evening.
